Mid-State Farmers Mutual Insurance Company in New Haven, Indiana has signed an affiliation agreement with Wayne Mutual Insurance Company. The agreement authorizes the existing Wayne Mutual board of directors and company officers to lead both companies. As a result, Mid-State Farmers Mutual has become the latest member of Wayne Insurance Group and the first member company in Indiana.
“Mid-State Farmers Mutual has a well-deserved reputation for providing dependable insurance solutions in Indiana,” said Tim Suppes, who serves as chief executive officer and president of Wayne Insurance Group. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to join forces with the staff at Mid-State Farmers Mutual. Working together, we can expand our capabilities to better meet the insurance needs of our policyholders.”
Mid-State Farmers Mutual provides insurance protection for homes, farms, personal property, livestock, machinery and other valuable items. The company provides protection against financial loss by fire, windstorms, or lightning and offers extended-coverage policies for additional perils as well.
Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Association of Allen County was founded in 1878 to benefit area farmers. The company's name was changed to Mid-State Farmers Mutual in the 1980s. The company relocated from E. Main St. in Fort Wayne to its current office in New Haven in 2001. In 1988, Farmers Mutual of Jay County in Portland, merged into Mid-State Mutual. Offices were initially maintained in both Fort Wayne and Portland until they were consolidated into the New Haven location.
With the affiliation now finalized, the two companies will begin working closely together, but will continue to operate as separate entities.
